Monica Gonzales Selected as Entrepreneur of the Year
Long Beach, CA – Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) on hand this past week for the Fourth Annual Latino Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Gala presented by Verizon Wireless in Long Beach, CA. This year the Verizon Wireless entrepreneur of the year was Monica Gonzales of Aldabella Scarpa. As the selected awardee, Gonzalez received a $15,000 grant and 4G LTE Motorola smartphone to help spur technological advancement for her business.
Gonzales is co-owner of Aldabella Scarpa a children’s fashion and footwear company based in Covina, California started by Gonzales and her sister Ann Marie Smith. The company’s mission statement is to make a difference in communities across the United States, starting with a pair of shoes. For every pair of shoes that is sold, the company donates a pair to a child in need in the United States. To date, they have donated thousands of shoes annually to schools, hospitals and communities.
Longoria was on had to give the Keynote address. Longoria, an active philanthropist and national spokesperson for PADRES Contra El Cáncer (PADRES), whose mission is to improve the quality of Life for Latino Children with cancer and their families, spoke about giving back to community and the important work Gonzalez does.
