Come and see the talent!
This year’s WGA Latino Writers Committee Co-Chairs Maria Escobedo, Yolie Romano Cortez, and Ernie Bustamate are proud to announce their 3rd Annual Latino Scene Night, to be held on Monday, 4/13, 7:00 p.m. WGA, 2nd Floor, MPR.
A night of showcasing the Latino talent with readings featuring smart, compelling, and humorous scenes from film and television scripts penned by WGAW scribes: Carlo Allen, Stephen Blackburn, Yolie Cortez, Chris Derrick, Daniel Dominguez, Maria Escobedo, Pang-Ni Landrum & Jess Pineda, Luisa Leschin, Rick Marin, Alix Reeves, Rudy Robles, & Evette Vargas.
The scenes will be directed by Ed Ornelas (Jane the Virgin, Rizzoli & Isles, NCIS: New Orleans). Actors were cast by Michael Sanford.
The WGA Latino writers committee seeks to enhance the visibility of Latino writers in the industry – to elevate their status and increase their participation. It also attempts to fight pervasive stereotypes about Latinos — in front of and behind the cameras. Since Latinos come from many different national backgrounds, a bonus derived from the committee’s work has been increased understanding among the various cultures represented.
