The 16th annual Los Angeles Impact Awards Luncheon, convened by the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), honors outstanding local media professionals, artists and community leaders for their achievements and contributions to the region’s Latino community. Luncheon attendees, including hundreds of news and entertainment media executives, celebrate the influence of Latinos in the entertainment capital of the world.




Emcees: Michelle Valles and Yarel Ramos



Honorees: Altamed‘s Sin Verguenza for Outstanding Online Series; Claudia Botero, Juan Fernandez and Vera Jimenez for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism; and Chon Noriega for Outstanding Service and Commitment to the Latino Community.

At the event, NHMC has presented awards to Latinos for honors including Excellence in Broadcast Journalism, Diversity Programs and Community Relations, and Outstanding Service and Commitment to the Latino Community. Past award recipients include: Lynette Romero, Elizabeth Espinoza, Art Laboe, Ruben Luengas, Jaime Jarrín, Sam Rubin, Ana Garcia, Big Boy, Laura Diaz and Vikki Vargas.



2018 NHMC Impact Award Luncheon Honorees:

  1. AltaMed’s Sin Vergüenza (Without Shame), English and Spanish telenovela web-series – Outstanding Online Series

  2. Claudia Botero, Univision 34 News Anchor and Reporter – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism

  3. Juan Fernandez, CBS 2 KCAL 9 News Anchor and Reporter – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism

  4. Vera Jimenez, KTLA Meteorologist – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism

  5. Chon A. Noriega, UCLA Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media Professor, and UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Director – Outstanding Service and Commitment to the Latino Community

The event will be emceed by Michelle Valles (NBC4 Los Angeles Co-Anchor and General Assignment Reporter) and Yarel Ramos (Univision 34 Edición Digital California Anchor).
