NHMC MediaCon Comes to Pasadena July 20-12


The National Hispanic Media Coalition  recently announced their inaugural Latino MediaCon & Expo, presented by Univision at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California July 20-21.  Billed as a Latino media industry and Latino entertainment consumer showcase, the conference will feature  Haim Saban, Chairman and CEO of the Saban Capital Group as a keynote speaker.

MediaCon will convene media advocates and influencers, industry executives and celebrity talent to network, discuss trends and gain insight on emerging issues. Timely panel discussions, notable keynote speakers and best practices in programming are some of the conference highlights planned. In addition to the title sponsor, other sponsors to-date include Nielsen, CBS, Warner Brothers, Comcast/NBC/Telemundo and General Motors.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to learn new ways to succeed in an evolving media industry from distinguished leaders including Maria Elena Salinas, Univision’s Emmy-Award-winning journalist; Monica Lozano, publisher and CEO of La Opinión, the largest Spanish publication in the United States; Ligiah Villalobos, writer and executive producer of the independent feature film La Misma LunaArturo Vargas, Executive Director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials; upcoming actress Cierra Ramirez (Girl in Progress); writer/producer Elizabeth Avellan (Spy Kids); and Matt Barreto, principal of Latino Decisions.

The MediaCon Entertainment Expo, takes place on the second day, July 21, and is free and open to the public. Scheduled attractions include musical performances on two stages, celebrity meet and greets and autograph sessions with appearances by Eduardo Yáñez, Mexican soap opera megastar; Efren Ramirez, known for his acting roles in films such as Napoleon Dynamite and Employee of the Month; Art Laboe, syndicated radio personality; and Big Boy, the effervescent radio host of Power 106.
