Marilyn Alverio
After hosting the popular in-person annual event for 16 years, Marilyn Alverio, Latinas & Power Symposium (LPS) Founder and Event Producer, announced that this year, the Symposium will be held via Zoom, which will allow them to widen their national reach during this time of social distancing.
The annual event, usually held in Hartford, CT, has impacted thousands of Latina professionals from across the country. “Our mission is to inspire, motivate, encourage, and enable Latinas to become Leaders,” stated Alverio. “We have been wanting to explore the possibility of presenting online content to Latinas across the country, and now we have his opportunity to innovate.”
This important free event will be hosted as a Zoom webinar and held on Friday, June 12th from 10 AM to 2 PM. The exciting thing about hosting a virtual event is that it widens the reach from 500 in-person attendees to thousands who want to take advantage of the treasure trove of information being disseminated.
Using online Zoom meetings, the LPS Virtual Symposium will gather to hear from an array of Latina leaders, entrepreneurs, and influencers. “We have put together an engaging, educational and uplifting experience,” said Alverio.
The virtual symposium will feature a top-notch lineup of speakers selected to inspire and motivate. A Latina Power Panel discussing “Latinas Defying Odds,” features the following accomplished women:

“What has been traditionally an in-person experience attracting women from all over the Northeast, is now a national platform and open to all women (and men) from around the U.S.,” said Alverio. “With the COVID19 pandemic and subsequent shut down, I knew we had to transform our in-person experience to a virtual format on our original date.”
In addition, Alverio went on to state that they are still planning to host its 17th annual Latinas & Power Symposium as a live and in-person event on September 24. Stay tuned for more details to be published.
