L.A.´s Best Salsa and Cuban Bands at Plaza de Cultura y Artes

4th Annual Free Summer of Salsa Concert Series Begins Friday, May 11th & Hosted Every Second Friday of Month Through September 2018

Los Angeles, CA- LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes presents its 4th annual free Summer of Salsa Concert Series beginning Friday, May 11.

Dance to the sounds of some of Los Angeles’s best salsa and Cuban bands hosted every second Friday of the month from May through September in Downtown Los Angeles. This year’s LA Plaza lineup includes the Echo Park Project, Latin Sol, La Verdad, The Arsenio Rodriguez Project, and Conjunto Costazul. The free event has limited seating, a dance floor, and food and bar service available for purchase. The series is sponsored by Pacific Federal, Music Fund of Los Angeles, and Teamsters Local 986 Charity.

The 2018 Summer of Salsa Lineup:

Echo Park Project| Friday, May 11 | 6pm 501 N. Main Street, Los Angeles (Downtown, across from Plaza Olivera)

The Echo Park Project, created in 2006 by Carlo Lopez, a Latin percussionist from Brooklyn, brings together in-demand session musicians presenting a combination of original material and hot Seventies cover tunes.

Latin Sol | Friday, June 8 | 6pm

Latin Sol is a 10-piece band creating a blend of salsa and Afro Cuban rhythms featuring full percussion, rhythm, horn, and vocal sections that, in combination, play with intensity and energy.

La Verdad | Friday, July 13 | 6pm With just two years on the scene, this West Coast nine-piece salsa group, under the musical direction of Gabriel Gonzalez, is committed to the preservation and expression of Afro-Son.

The Arsenio Rodriguez Project | Friday, August 10 | 6pm The Arsenio Rodriguez Project pays homage to one of the most beloved and renowned figures of Cuban music history. An all-star ensemble presents the music written and arranged by Arsenio the way it was meant to be heard.

Conjunto Costazul | Friday, September 7 | 6pm Closing out the Summer of Salsa is Conjunto Costazul, led by veterans of the salsa scene Freddie and Johnny Crespo, who bring us the sounds of swing and salsa with booming horns and percussion.
