Padres Contra el Cancer began its mission more than 26 years ago to support the needs of the Latino community who have a higher risk of medical problems due to a series of complex factors, including language barriers, socio-economic challenges and limited access to community resources.
Throughout the year they hold a variety of fundraising events. On Sunday, June 24th, 2012 Padres Contra el Cancer (Padres) hosted their 5th Annual ‘Stand for HOPE!’ 5K Charity Run/Walk at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. The Run/Walk raised more than $65K to benefit PADRES’ vital programs and services that increase survivorship rates among childhood cancer patients, while promoting the emotional and financial well-being of the entire family.
Padres biggest fundraising event is the El Sueno de Esperanza usually takes place in the fall. Last year year Padres held this event in Las Vegas at the All New Tropicana Hotel & Casino and it worked out so well they will return once again to Vegas for the 12th Annual El Sueno de Esperanza with Eva Longoria once again serving as Chair of the event and George Lopez once again signing on as the MC.
