“Cuba Amiga” at LA Opera: No Visa Required

LA Opera’s December 12th concert, Cuba Amiga promises virtuoso performances of Latin rhythms: bolero, salsa, flamenco, timba, rumba, cha-cha, samba, and tango by Opera Star Erwin Schrott, and Guitar Legend José Feliciano.

You know how things start out one way and end up another, completely different way, but just as good, if not better? That’s what happened with “Cuba Amiga” the new concert of Uruguayan opera star, Erwin Schrott and ‘guitar god’, José Feliciano. Together, Schrott and Feliciano make magic, inspired by the music and life of legendary tango performer Carlos Gardel, recreating the musical journey Gardel began 80 years ago through Latin America. Tragically cut short when his plane crashed in Colombia before reaching the final destination of Cuba, Gardel’s concert tour was promoting his film musical El día que me quieras. Senor Schrott’s intention for the concert is as “a thank you to Maestro Gardel and to Cuba as a source of inspiration and birthplace of many unique styles of music and immortal songs.”
