Los Angeles, CA- Patricia Maya, the multifaceted and talented actress (star and producer of Netflix original series Real Rob) recently held a book signing of her first book Centurion & Emperador at the 9th Feria del Caballo Espanol at the Industry Hill Expo Center. As a backdrop Maya was among fans of the third largest breeder and horse owner events in the world, the ninth annual La Feria Del Caballo Español where Centurion, the horse who inspired her children’s book, was performing.
“I am so excited to be part of this beautiful cause. These horses have a special mission. They help collect funds to feed the hungry and I feel so honor that throughout this book and with the help of many families we all can do many things for these people,” said Patricia Maya in an interview with Latin Heat Entertainment
Centurion and Emperador, is an illustrated children’s book who was also written by Patricia’s husband actor/comedian Rob Schneider, and tells the story of two baby horses that come to live at Gamble Ranch where they meet new friends who later encourage them to follow their passions no matter what others believe. The inspiration for the book is based the “rescue” horse Centurión, adopted by friends of Maya and her husband.
Maya told Latin Heat that the idea to write this book first started when she, her husband and her daughter Miranda went to visit Rancho Centurion, property of their friends Nancy and George Gamble located in the Napa Valley. Miranda was fascinated with the horses.
“Centurion is a beautiful white horse who before being adopted by our friends Nancy and George, had been abused, mistreated and starved near death but with the care and love of the Gambles, Centurion survived. Here is when you realize that hunger exists not because there is not enough money to feed the needy but because people don’t love,” added Maya.
George Gamble is a rancher who has been ranching in the Napa County for over 50 years and along with his wife Nancy Gambler organize charity events and supports programs to feed the needy in the Napa Valley area, primarily the Latino community.

“Our two horses entertain audiences and that is the part that me and my wife love most. We are not really into the traditional horse dancing on a platform that compete to earn points, we like to see horses that besides performing in front of an audience, help us raise money to feed the people who need food. We are very proud to be part of this project of Patricia and Rob,” Mr. Gamble explained.
Centurion and Emperador have raised more than 75 thousand dollars for the community in the past 3 years and this September 9th, 2017 they will be performing at the 25th Annual Hands Across The Valley charity event at the Historic Charles Krug Winer in St. Helena, CA.
During the event, Nancy Gamble highlighted the importance of doing these cultural events where people from different nationalities can enjoy and admire the talents of their horses “Centurion and Emperador” who in their shows dance songs from all types of American artists such as James Brown, Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars and Elvis Presley, but they also dance latino music. She also commented how excited and happy the audiences get when they see Centurion and Emperador performing, because nobody pushes them, they love dancing.
“Anybody who reads the book, especially the children will get a wonderful story out of it, of perseverance overcoming obstacles in life. Many children are bullied by peers when they are growing up and they don’t really know at an early age what kind of passion they will follow in life but whatever that passion is it can happen,” added Gamble.
The event ended on a musical not when Julian Figueroa, son of Mexican singer Joan Sebastian received an honorary award on his father’s behalf for Sebastian’s long musical career, after singing several Mexican regional songs while riding Emperador, afterwhich Maya autographed a book for Jose Julian.
Centurion & Emperador is published by Magnetic Press and illustrated by Disney and Marvel’s comic artist Francisco Herrera (Bitten, Deadpool, Venom) and can be purchased on Amazon.com and also at Barnes and Noble.
