“The Vault Bankrupt” Last Performances

Downtown L.A. comes to life yet again, taking the audience on a thrilling chase for the answers. Follow the money trail to a front row seat in The Vault!

In The Vault we trust. Stock markets are crashing, pantheons of commerce have crumbled, and nations are begging….begging for more. More of what, exactly? In an all-new original production, the Vault Theater Ensemble asks the age-old questions: What is the true value of money? Does it buy happiness? Love? Can you get it with cheese?

Jasmine Orpilla, musical director and ensemble member, describes The Vault as a “rebellious, genre-bending theatre and musical performance-art ensemble. Continually inspired by local L.A. and global real-life happenings, this multi-cultural and interdisciplinary ensemble creates an unpredictable, fast-paced experience where no issue is taboo, except for our mothers.”

The Vault began public performances in early 2010, first in a series of late-night performances and dates coinciding with the monthly Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk, and then full productions in May/June and Oct./Nov. 2010 and The Vault: Unlocked in September/October 2011.

The Vault is both the name of the show and of the young company that performs it. Significantly, the company displays a wide cultural diversity, reflective of the population of Downtown L.A. itself.

The cast includes Aaron Garcia, Brenda Banda, Stephen Buchanan, Fidel Gomez, Sam Golzari, Theodore Lange IV, Vicki Syal and Esperanza America Ibarra, cited by the Los Angeles Times (1/4/12) as one of the city’s best actresses.
