The Hispanic Organization for Latin Actors Celebrates 40 Years!

Forty years of advocating for Latinos in the entertainment industryJoin their $40 For 40″ Fundraising Campaign

In 1975 the Hispanic Organization for Latin Actors (HOLA) was founded by a group of Hispanic actors concerned with the images of Latinos in the media.  HOLA has become a leading advocacy group for actors working on stage, television and in films.

While show business has changed since their founding, HOLA’s mission has remained the same. By expanding job opportunities for Hispanic actors, HOLA strengthens and supports the available talent pool. The arts service organization was founded to expand the presence of Hispanic actors in both the Latino and mainstream entertainment and communications media by facilitating industry access to employing professional and emerging Hispanic actors. HOLA members represent the full spectrum of Latino cultures, reflecting the nation’s growing Hispanic population.

HOLA has seen many actors come through their doors, having at one point or another been HOLA members.  Previous and current HOLA members include Ana Ortiz (Devious Maids), Carlos Carrasco (at one time the Executive Director), Miriam Colón (AMC’s Better Call Saul), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Smash), Jaime Sánchez (Carlitos Way), Roselyn Sánchez (Devious Maids), Jimmy Smits (Sons of Anarchy, The West Wing) , and David Zayas (Dexter).

In celebration of their 40th anniversary HOLA is celebrating with their “40 For 40 fundraising campaign”.  Donations of at least $40 (or multiples of 40) to commemorate our 40th birthday are being accepted. Donate $40, $80, $120… up to $400, $800 or $1000 (or more).
