Miguel Arteta’s Alexander And The Terrible…Very Bad Day Gets October 10th Release
I remember how impressed I was with Miguel Arteta’s first film Star Maps back in 1997, which starred Douglas Spain and Efrain Figueroa. It made a splash in the indie world garnering five Independent Spirit Awards and won Special Recognition from the National Board of Review. He then went on to directed Chuck and Buck three years later, which starred Mike White and the late Lupe Ontiveros. He followed that up two years later with The Good Girl, which gave Jennifer Aniston her first and still, the best dramatic role she has ever done. It also starred a young Jake Gyllenhaal.
Flash forward to this Friday, October 10th to his latest directorial of Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day premieres. This family flick that follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair. Arteta directs a stellar cast that includes mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey).
But that isn’t all, Arteta is on a roll with three projects in different stages of development, which he is set to direct. The Unicorn Store, 47 Rules of Highly Effective Bank Robbers and Fat Man a comedy that is being produced by Adam Sandler.
As executive producer he is scheduled to work with Hollywood heavy weights Brad Grey and Brad Pitt on an adaptation of Jonathan Tropper’s book The Book of Joe.
