Telemundo 52 Names Alejandra Weekday Morning News Anchor


Los Angeles, CA – Telemundo 52 Los Angeles / KVEA announced that Alejandra Ortiz has been named News Anchor for the station’s weekday morning newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 52 a las 5 AM y 6 AM. Ortiz will join Weather Anchor Michelle Trujillo and Reporters Sandra Bonilla and Balbino Aviles to deliver the latest breaking news and information for Spanish-speaking viewers in the greater Los Angeles area. Ortiz will replace current Morning News Anchor, Nancy Leal, who has been named Co-Anchor of Noticiero Telemundo 39 airing weekdays at 4 PM and 4:30 PM on sister station Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth / KXTX.

Ortiz joined Telemundo 52 in 2017 as the Weekend News Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 52 at 6 PM and 11 PM. Ortiz also worked for sister-station Telemundo Las Vegas / KBLR as the weekday News Co-Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Las Vegas. Prior to joining KBLR in 2016, she worked for CM&, — the Colombian news network launched in the early 1990’s. While at CM&, Ortiz worked as an anchor for the network’s national and international newscasts. In this role, Ortiz had the opportunity to lead the network’s coverage of the 2014 presidential elections, as well as other high-profile Colombian electoral races and news-making events. As a host of CM&’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine program, La Revista, Ortiz also interviewed more than 1,200 Colombian and international personalities, including celebrities. Prior to this, Ortiz worked at various other Colombian television networks, newspapers, magazines, and radio stations as a producer, reporter, scriptwriter and radio host. Ortiz is tri-lingual and fluent in Spanish, English and French and has hosted, produced and scripted television shows in all three languages.

Ortiz earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. While in college, she interned for Telemundo Network’s Noticiero Telemundo and Time Warner Cable’s 24×7 Spanish-language channel in New York City, NY1 Noticias. She has also served as a contributor to news outlets including CNN en Español.
