Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios Taps Lourdes Diaz as Head of TV

Former Univision and Comedy Central executive Lourdes Diaz has joined Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios as head of television.

Diaz will oversee all of the company’s small-screen production, including scripted, nonscripted, nonfiction and digital television activities. AGC Studios, is a content studio that develops, produces, finances and globally licenses feature films, scripted, unscripted and factual television, digital and musical content.

Diaz most recently served as president of entertainment for Univision Communications. Before that she was head of global production and development at Viacom International’s Comedy Central, in charge of commissioning all scripted and nonscripted productions and overseeing their development across all Comedy Central International channels. As such, she executive produced such formats as Drunk History UKBrotherhood and I Live With Models.

Before Comedy Central, Diaz was vp primetime programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios and has served as executive producer on such NBC shows as HouseParenthoodWhitney and The Office.

“Lourdes’ impressively deep résumé, with her extensive experience across hourlong dramas, miniseries, scripted and unscripted comedy in multiple formats, international co-productions and multicultural content make her a perfect fit for what we hope will be a diverse and prolific AGC Television output over the coming years,” said Ford.

Diaz said that AGC Studios was coming to the table “with the resources for us to take big swings. I am thrilled to bring forth the next generation of content — scripted and nonscripted, from comedy to drama, in the U.S. and globally.”

Ford launched AGC Studios earlier this year, initially bringing on a team of film executives, including Oscar-winning producer Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker) as head of film.

Backed by Latin American private asset management firm MediaNet Partners, Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Silicon Valley entrepreneur and Fibonacci Films chairman Greg Clark, AGC Studios has ambitious plans to become a global mini-major, producing, financing and distributing high-end film and television content worldwide.
