Actress Raquel McPeek Rodriguez will be guest starring on Freeform Network’s (formally ABC Family) Beyond which begins airing all episodes this month on HULU. McPeek Rodriguez will appear in episode 9, Out of Darkness. Later this year, in June, McPeek Rodriguez will also be guest starring in Pretty Little Liars, also on Freeform.
McPeek Rodriguez is a unique Actress, as she is legally deaf and utilizes her fluency in sign language, and her knowledge of deaf culture, to inform her work.
Raquel was born in the Northern Jungle of Guatemala during that country’s civil war. She was adopted when she was twelve hours old by a U.S. couple, the McPeeks working in Guatemala at the time.
She is a dedicated and gifted actress adding many credits in theater and film to her growing resume. She played Gwen in a deaf version of Romeo and Juliet, at The Complex in Hollywood.
McPeek Rodriguez began acting in high school and studied theatre at California State University, Northridge. While at CSUN, she appeared in numerous productions, a highlight being playing the lead in Luis Alfaro’s Electricidad, an adaptation of the Greek play Electra, set in modern day East Los Angeles.
McPeek Rodriguez always brings her entire self to her acting. Her Latino heritage has played an important role in the parts she plays. Her numerous experiences—being born in a war, returning to Central America, her adoption, her deafness—have enriched her work on the stage and screen.
