Paid Fellowships Available for LATC Encuentro Theatre Fest

LATC.AndrewMellon

Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC) is partnering with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to provide paid fellowships in a program to coincide with the 2014 LATC 2014 Encuentro: a National Latino/a Theatre Festival, in which fifteen companies and over 100 artists from around the country will converge at LATC to present a month-long festival of theatrical works. Fellows will get hands-on experience in producing the festival, being trained with the skills necessary for them to become the nation’s future Artistic Directors.

The demographics of the United States are swiftly changing; in ten years, minorities will collectively make up more than 50% of the population. The arts in America will also be impacted, and there will be a need for emerging arts leaders who will guide the courses of culturally specific arts groups and poly-cultural arts institutions.

With this in mind, ten Fellows will be selected, each receiving a $2000 stipend and a $1200 meal allowance. Each Fellow must commit to being in residence at LATC from October 1 to November 21, 2014. Dedicated work will be rewarded with the acquisition of marketable skills.
