Former Dodgers’ Fernando Valenzuela and Local Journalists to be Honored at National Hispanic Media Coalition Luncheon
15th Annual Los Angeles Impact Awards Luncheon Celebrates Local Latino Media Leaders
Los Angeles, CA – Just ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) will honor local media professionals at its 15th annual Los Angeles Impact Awards Luncheon on September 7in Universal City, 333 Universal Hollywood Dr. Universal City, CA 91608.
All honorees have been selected for outstanding achievements and contributions to the region’s Latino community. Among the honorees will be legendary LA Dodger and 17-year Major League veteran, inducted into numerous Hall of Fames, Fernando Valenzuela as NHMC’s first Sports Legend Awardee. Valenzuela, who is now entering his third season calling games in Spanish on SportsNet LA and his 15th season as a Dodger broadcaster, will be the first ever recipient of NHMC’s Sports Legend Award.
Laura Diaz, Emmy award-winning anchor, reporter and producer at Fox 11 News and Rick Garcia, Emmy award-winning anchor for CBS 2, will emcee the luncheon and awards presentation which takes place Thursday, September 7, 2017 and begins at 11:30am with a reception followed by lunch and the presentation.

Julio Vaqueiro, anchor for Telemundo 52 – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism
Michelle Valles, reporter and anchor at NBC 4 – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism
Antonio Valverde, reporter and anchor at Univision 34 Los Angeles – Excellence in Broadcast Journalism
Fernando Valenzuela, 17-year Major League veteran, Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame inductee, SportsNet LA broadcaster and Dodger broadcaster – Sports Legend Award
