More Performers Announced for 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards

2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 26 on Telemundo


Miami,FL – Top Billboard Mexican Music Award recipient Gerardo Ortiz, Tribal Guarachero group 3BallMty, Corrido music singer/songwriter Larry Hernandez, Banda sensation El Bebeto, Mexican Regional successful singer/songwriter America Sierra, and worldwide music phenomenon Michel Telo, join previously announced performers Don Omar, Prince Royce, Paulina Rubio, Daddy Yankee, Juanes and Jenni Rivera at the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm on Telemundo. Billboard and Telemundo will also honor Tejano/Norteño group Intocable as the recipient of the 2012 Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a remarkable musical career that has transcended cultures and redefined the music genre.

Among the finalists confirmed to attend the magnum event are Aventura (Mikey, Henry and Lenny), Charlie Zaa, El Cata, Fernando Camacho Tirado, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, Lucenzo, N’Klabe, Nayer, and Sergio George.  The 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards presented by State Farm will take place on Thursday, April 26 at 7PM at BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Florida and will be produced and broadcast live in HD by Telemundo. Top artists scheduled to perform include Gerardo Ortiz, known as the new king of Corridos and the most awarded artist with six nods at the inaugural Billboard Mexican Music Awards; 3BallMty, the recent phenomenon with a unique blend of electronic sounds and pre-Hispanic, African and Tropical music on the new genre called Tribal Guarachero; Corrido music sensation Larry Hernandez; exciting newcomer also known as Banda’s Heartthrob El Bebeto, and America Sierra, Mexican Regional’s successful female songwriter. Brazil’s most transcending artist and worldwide music phenomenon Michel Telo will make his USA debut at the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Michel Telo has risen to the top of the charts and digital sales in Brazil, Latin America and Europe with his hit song “Ai, Se Eu Te Pego.” Also a social media sensation, Michel Telo has 1.4 million followers on Twitter, 3 million fans on Facebook, and more than 400 million YouTube views making his video the most watched in the history of Brazil.  They join previously announced performances of Juanes, Paulina Rubio, Don Omar, Prince Royce, Daddy Yankee, and Jenni Rivera.

Led by vocalist Ricky Muñoz and percussionist René Martinez, the Texan band Intocable will be honored with a special Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their successful artistic career.  Intocable, also scheduled to perform, has redefined the Norteño music genre with their unique fusion of Tejano/Norteño sounds. Their 15 studio albums and various compilations have sold millions of units and their success transcends music genre and culture in Mexico and the US. The band made history in 2011 by becoming the first musical act of their kind to play at the famed Dallas Cowboys Stadium at the halftime show of a National Football League game. Nineteen albums by Intocable have appeared in Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums Chart and 11 of them have reached the No. 1 position; while 15 of the 44 songs that have charted also reached the top of the Billboard Regional Mexican Songs Chart.

While finalists and winners of the Billboard Latin Music Awards are determined by the Billboard charts, the winners of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award are decided by an editorial committee, which bases its decisions on virtues related to that specific award. Previous recipients of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award include Los Temerarios, Vicente Fernandez, Celia Cruz, Joan Sebastian, Marco Antonio Solis, Miguel Bose, Conjunto Primavera, Carlos Santana and Emmanuel.

The awards show caps off the 23rd annual Billboard Latin Music Conference presented by State Farm.
