Mayans MC, “Sons Of Anarchy” Spinoff is The Highest Rated Cable Series To Date

The Most-watched Cable Series Premiere

Ratings Remain High for 2nd Episode

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mayans MC on FX drew the highest ratings of any new cable drama series this year in every major demographic, making it the most watched cable series premiere for a drama series adults 18-49 since January 2016.

The initial telecast reached 2.8 million viewers, nineteen percent (19% ) of the viewing audience was comprised of Hispanic viewers who watched the predominantly Latino cast series. Overall  Mayans. M.C. averaged 6.8 million total viewers for its premiere, these include encore turns and digital streaming and delayed viewing through Sept 9th and outperformed the premiere of the original (2008-2014) Sons of Anarchy from which it was spun off.

Mayans MC stars JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Edward james Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, and Danny Pino. Recurring stars include Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Rocco Vargas, and Maurice Compte. Mayans M.C. was co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, Norberto Barba directs the first two episodes. The series is executive produced by Sutter and Barba. In Dominic Patten ‘s  Deadline.com review of Mayans MC he says of the series, “teaming up with Little Birds director Elgin James to unveil the very American saga of the Emilio Rivera led Latino organization, Sutter has taken a stab into the underbelly of not just biker criminal culture but the demographic and culture wars blaring across America right now.”

The second episode of Mayans MC which aired Sept 12, stayed at the top of the Tuesday night cable viewing despite a tiny 3/10 of a point drop from its premiere rating.
