The series is produced by Gabriela López de Dennis (Overcomers, Fixing Paco, B.O.O.S.T., Edith & Harvey) who was lead writer on Gloria Takes the Leap as well as for the upcoming Infectious Rumors which she also codirected. She was also cowriter of the awardwinning 10episode educational web series Fixing Paco starring Paul Rodriguez; as well as cowriter and producer the film Edith & Harvey.

#HighlandPark is a 5 episode digital series comedy created for new media. The pilot season includes sketch comedy focused on gentrification in the area. The episode Juanita & Diego is about a neighborhood couple who are offered advice by a chola “Virgen” apparition named Concepción. Drinking with Friends is about a Latina “Alice in Wonderland” fundraising party for a dog; and Basketball Diaries, where two buddies chop it up over bball every week on dating, jealous women and chola rockers. The series also includes a nottobemissed dance number with Highland Park’s vibrancy as its backdrop, choreographed by Marissa Herrera (Inner City Arts in Los Angeles) and featuring original music by recording artist Korina López “La Dama de la Banda” from Houston.

Jeremiah Ocañas career started as an actor in such projects as the film Drive By Chronicles: Ghostown, Choosing Signs and Homebound (which he also produced).

He also produced the web series No Kids. No Cry, a “baby mama drama” which was nominated for an Imagen Award. He writes and shoots music videos for his hiphop group The Lone Stars.

In September of 2015, PBS/World Channel began airing episode one, Jasmine, of his awardwinning documentary short Overcomers. More recently episode two: Myles was released. Overcomers is a docuseries for the American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen initiative that he cocreated, directed and produced, made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and NALIP.
