This drama-thriller centers on Maria, a 17 year old Mayan (Kaqchikel) woman, living on the slopes of an active volcano in Guatemala. An arranged marriage awaits her, but her suitor must first spend months working in the city. It is a world Maria knows nothing of, but is forced to encounter when problems arise.

This is the third installment of screenings hosted by LatinoMediaVisions. The project showcases Latino content, offers entrepreneurial seminars for the independent content producer, and provides a recurring opportunity for the community to network.

Created by the LatinHeat Media Institute (LHMI), in association with the American Cinematheque and with the assistance of the consulting firm of Alex Mendoza & Associates (AMA) and Impresario Global Media Group (IGMG), the mission of Latino?Media?Visions is to advance, promote, instill entrepreneurial growth and inspire Latino content creators across media, while creating a forum for discussion between filmmakers, the industry and the audience. Latino?Media?Visions will also present diverse features, documentaries, shorts, TV/Web programs, and other moving-visual art from the U.S., Latin America and Spain. Latino?Media?Visions will launch at the American Cinematheque’s historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and it will look to expand its geographical reach as the program grows.
