“The Sentence” is LALIFF’s Opening Night Film
After a five year absence, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) re-launches today, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 with an Opening Night Film and Gala Party! Premiering is The Sentence, winner of the “Audience Award– U.S. Documentary” at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
Filmmaker Rudy Valdez in The Sentence, draws from hundreds of hours of footage that shows the aftermath of his sister Cindy’s 15-year sentence for conspiracy charges related to crimes committed by her deceased ex-boyfriend—something known, in legal terms, as “the girlfriend problem.” The Sentence took the Audience Award this past January at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Mexican Standoff
The Opening Night Gala Party will take place immediately following the film, and will highlight two incredible bands: The Mexican Standoff and Tropa Mágica.
Opening Night Film & Gala tickets are $100 for both, click HERE for details.
