Daniel Espinoza To Take Over Tony Scott’s Directorial of “Child 44”


Safe House director Daniel Espinosa  is said to be in talks to direct Child 44.  Child 44 was one of the many projects that were on the late Tony Scott’s production slate.  Scott’s Scott Free productions will continue to produce along with Summit/Lionsgate.

The story follows disgraced lawman in the Soviet Union, who is assigned to investigate a series of gruesome child murders and is  based on the Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, who was responsible for 52 murders.

Espinosa is of Chilean background, born in  Trångsund, Stockholm and came to the attention of Hollywood when he directed the Swedish film Snabba Cash which lead to his being tapped to make his American film debut as director with Safe House, starring two of Hollywoods biggest leading men, Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.
