Award-Winning ‘8 Ways To Say I Love My Life’ Play Reprised in Conjunction with Book Rele

‘8 Ways to Say I Love My Life’ monologues return to Casa 0101 Theater


Los Angeles– After sold-out shows at Casa 0101 Theater and the Los Angeles Theater Center in 2009, 8 Ways to Say I Love My Life will return to Casa 0101 for a three-week run Nov. 3-18 to celebrate the publication of the book by the same name. 8 Ways is a collection of monologues written by eight women and based on their lives.  The 8 Ways theater performance inspired audiences during successful runs, was named “Editor’s Hot Pick” by LatinoLA.com and won the 2009 Imagen Award for Best Live Theatrical Production.

Performances will take place Nov. 3rd through the 18th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Special Pay-What-You-Can preview on Friday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $20 general admission; $17 for students/seniors; and $15 for Boyle Heights residents with I.D.  Group discounts are also available. 8 Ways To Say i Love My Life is a co-production between Casa 0101 and the 8 Ways Group.  Josefina Lopez is the artistic director of Casa 0101.  The stage production will be directed and restaged by Nancy De Los Santos Reza and produced by Bel Hernandez Castillo.  Set designer is Javier Torres; stage manager is Mathew Sanchez; Sammy Ross is lighting designer.


Filled with the women’s experiences, inspiration, personal growth, loss and love, this collection of memoirs transcends to all women. A hit with audiences and critics, the life-affirming monologues also received a rave review in the Los Angeles Times. “Eight winning performers chart their characters’ various journeys to female empowerment with passion, humor and sheer verve,”  F. Kathleen Foley wrote in her review.

The eight writers include author and screenwriter Josefina Lopez (“Hungry Woman in Paris” and “Real Women Have Curves”); author Susan Orosco (“Latino Power: Seven Powers all Latinos Have Upon Which to Build an Empire”); producer and screenwriter Nancy De Los Santos Reza; Bel Hernandez Castillo (President/CEO, Latin Heat Media); motivational speaker Margo De Leon Guerra; communications specialist Laura De Anda, entrepreneur Joanna Ilizaliturri Diaz; and public health administrator Rita Mosqueda Marmolejo.   The award-winning monologues will be performed by actresses Ivonne Coll (Switched at Birth), Kikey Castillo (HOLA! L.A.), Yvonne DeLaRosa (Los Americans) and Karina Noelle (Decisions).
