The 8th Annual “Premios Texas” Awards aired on Galavisión Friday, November 30th
Galavisión presented the 8th Annual Premios Texas awards show, featuring electrifying performances by hugely popular Latin music stars. Famous pop artists Dulce María, Fonseca, Fedro, and Leonel García joined Regional Mexican artists Diana Reyes, La Original Banda el Limón, El Trono de México, Eduardo “Lalo” Mora, Las Fénix, Diego Verdaguer, Frankie J., La Leyenda, and La Máquina Norteña, along with merengue sensation Elvis Crespo, for a night of memorable music on stage at Austin City Limits Live in Austin, Texas.
Hosted by telenovela stars José Ron (La Que No Podía Amar, Cuando Me Enamoro) and Cynthia Urias (La Fea Más Bella), the 2012 Premios Texas awards ceremony recognized outstanding achievements in the Latin music industry, awarding statuettes in a variety of categories including Best Tejano Artist, Best Regional Mexican Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Tropical Artist, Best Urban Artist, Best Male Performer, Best Female Performer, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Texas Artist.
All eyes were on pop artist Dulce María who put on a stellar performance. Dulce was the recipient of two awards, one for Best Pop Artist and the other for Best Female Vocalist.
One of the highlights of the show was the annual Lifetime Achievement Award given to a distinguished artist who had made notable contributions to Latin music throughout his or her career. This year, the recipient was Argentinean singer and songwriter Diego Verdaguer.
