Los Angeles, CA- Indigenous activist and hip-hop artist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez will once again appear on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher this Friday, September 8, 2017.
Pronounced ‘Shu-Tez-Caht,’ Xiuhtezcatl is a young but powerful voice who at the age of six, along with other young kids, started leading an environmental movement aimed to create positive and concrete action in their communities to address climate change.
Martinez is currently the Youth Director of Earth Guardians, and organization of youth activists and artists that demand increased efforts on climate change.
“We are standing here to fight and protect everything that we love—from our land to our waters to the mountains to the rivers and forests. This is the moment where we decide what kind of legacy we are going to leave behind for future generations,” said Xiuhtezcatl to a group of supporters of his movement at Oregon last year.
At the age of six, Martinez addressed the General Assembly at the United Nations and the Rio+20 United Nations Summit in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. In 2013, Martinez received the United States Community Service Award from President Barack Obama.
Real Time With Bill Maher continues its 15th season this Friday, Sept. 8. 8 (10:00-11:00 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), with a replay at midnight, exclusively on HBO. Maher’s show offers a unique perspective on contemporary issues. It includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists and interview guests. Sofware company executive Ken Bone will be also guest at the show.
The show has just been renewed through 2020.
