Los Angeles, CA  — Legendary Puerto Rican crooner and passionate political activist Willie Colon brings his joyous tropical rhythms to the emblematic Downtown L.A. venue The Conga Room for an unforgettable night of music and dance on Thursday October 10, 2013.

After a two-year absence from Los Angeles stages, 11-time GRAMMY® nominee Colon returns to the City of Angels to spread the musical love with his intoxicating salsa sounds that have been moving generations to the dance floor for decades. The iconic singer, who is a household name among Latin families through his salsa albums and has over 40 recordings resulting in 30 million record sold, is one of the defining influences of modern Latin jazz, with lyrics both joyous and pain-filled, remembering the land long lost and the roots where tropical rhythms originated.

Colon is also a committed activist for humanities and community. A well-known political figure, his passion has won him local affection and national recognition as a leader and organizer for civil rights and the arts. Among his work and acknowledgements are his role as the Chair of the Association of Hispanic Arts, the Yale University CHUBB Fellowship award and the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Environmental Quality Award” for his activism in this area.
