Valerie Ortiz in VH1’s “Hit the Floor”

On Monday, May 27, VH1 will try to match the success of Single Ladies with the premiere of its next scripted series Hit the Floor — a fun, sexy soap centered on the Los Angeles Devil Girls, the dance team for the city’s fictional professional basketball team. We have your first look at a fiery new tease below.

Hit the Floor, created by James LaRosa, stars newcomer Taylour Paige and Logan Browning (Bratz, Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns) as the squad’s promising, naive rookie Ahsha and ruthless, threatened captain Jelena, respectively. (They are the two exchanging looks at the end.) The promo also features Devil Girls Kyle (Katherine Bailess), a stripper, and Raquel (Valerie Ortiz), a single mom whose ex manages half the team. As for the players, that’s Derek (McKinley Freeman), who has eyes for innocent and attached Ahsha, and Terrence (Rob Riley), Jelena’s man.

John Q‘s Kimberly Elise co stars as Ahsha’s mother Sloane, an original Devil Girl who doesn’t want her daughter to follow in her footsteps. NYPD Blue‘s Charlotte Ross plays Olivia, the Devil Girls’ manager. And Lois & Clark‘s Dean Cain is Pete Davenport, a former all-star Devil who returns to coach the team.
