Here is a first look of USA’s original drama series Queen of the South based on the literary page-turner La Reina Del Sur, by acclaimed author Arturo Pérez-Reverte, is set to premiere later this year.
Queen of the South tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza (Alicia Braga). When her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico, Teresa is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run. In the process, she learns the tools of the trade and strategically positions herself to become the leader of the cartel.
Based on best-selling book La Reina Del Sur by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Queen Of The South is co-produced by Fox 21 TV Studios and Universal Cable Prods.
The cast also includes Justina Machado (Six Feet Under) as Brenda Parra, Hemky Madera (Weeds) as Pote Gálvez, Peter Gadiot (Tut) as James Valdez, Gerardo Taracena (Apocalypto) as César “Batman” Güemes, and Veronica Falcón (Besos de azúcar) as Camila Vargas. Recuring roles are include Joaquim de Almeida (Our Brand is Crisis), Jon Ecker (Narcos), Carlos Gómez (The Glades), James Martínez (Breaking Bad), Donny Boaz (The Originals), Julio Cedillo (Sicario) y Joe Nemmers (American Crime).
