A movie-audience pleaser, After School, co-directed by Carlos Melendez and Mauricio Mendoza, tells the story of how one day, a young boy’s life is forever changed after an explosive confrontation with one of his abusers. This life-threatening drama reveals the horrific consequences of his sexual abuse, forced slave labor and his desperate call-for-help.
Written by Ruben Padilla, After School stars Mauricio Mendoza (Resurrection Blvd., Angeles, Blow), Yeniffer Behrens-Mendoza (General Hospital, Desperate Housewives, Sons of Anarchy), Vance Valencia (Contact, Die Hard2) and introducing 14-year old Adrian Moreira-Behrens (Sidewayz, Major Crimes, Stalker). These four actors give compassionate, heartfelt and chilling performances that leave audiences stunned as they are taken through the confrontation of one boy’s retaliation against his abusers.
The film also has an impressive ensemble of co-stars—Fanny Veliz, Julia Vera, Andy Martinez Jr., Carly Thomas-Smith, Ricky Saenz, Lawrence Razo, Zylan Brooks, Manolo Travieso, RoseAnn Kelley, Oscar Rodriguez, Isabella Briggs, and twins Emily and Abigail Ozrey.
“It is disturbing and a parent’s worst nightmare,” said one movie viewer in Los Angeles. “We can’t hide from the fact this terrible abuse is going on in our own neighborhoods and in seemingly normal households.”
Before taking the film out to other cities, True Form Films partners, filmmakers/actors Yeniffer Behrens, Mauricio Mendoza and producer, DeWayne Cox, wanted to screen in their hometowns—Los Angeles, San Diego and now Chicago.
“We have enjoyed taking our movie back to our roots,” said Behrens, “where our dreams started. It has created a sense of accomplishment to share our hard work and dedication with those who supported us as filmmakers from the beginning.”

About The C.H.A.M.P. Community Project: The C.H.A.M.P. Community Project provides self-development and self-empowerment educational programs focused on the emotional and mental well-being of individuals (adults and teens) who are living in single parent environments.
“Negative traits acquired from our parents or negative mentalities that are the result of abusive relationships and associations are what a vast majority of teenagers and adults deal with today. A lack of knowledge on how to deal with issues like bullying, abuse, and low self-esteem manifests into a cycle of more abuse, more depression, more broken relationships, and more negative traits being passed on to future generations. It’s time to stop the cycle!” -Traci S Campbell, Author/Creator of the C.H.A.M.P. Within Program, and Founder of the CH.A.M.P.
