Live Interviews: Gabrielle Ruiz (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) Carla Baratta (Mayans MC) Cece Valencia, Power 106 DJ/Philanthropist
LATINAFest, the summer event of the year, announced that TheTRENDTalk TV will be taping segments at LATINAFest before a live audience at this one of a kind lifestyle outdoor festival for women of all ages. Organizers expect over 1,000 attendees, with over 80 vendors and prominent speakers. LATINAFest happens on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes in Downtown Los Angeles, from 11am to 5pm.
TheTRENDTalk TV show hosts and executive producers, Bel Hernandez (President/CEO, Latin Heat Media) and Naibe Reynoso (EMMY Award-winning Journalist), will interview five super-heroines.
Gabrielle Ruiz: Known for her role as Valencia on the award-winning CW series, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. At the end of last season, Valencia found herself in a same-sex relationship that had fans applauding her performance, garnering Gabrielle with a nomination by the 2018 Bisexual Representation Awards. Further, Gabrielle was singled out by Latin Times as “7 Latina’s who are Killing it on TV now,” along with Gina Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez. Ruiz, a theater triple threat, was recommended for her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend role by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Carla Baratta: Venezuelan actress, Carla landed the coveted role as Adelita on the new TV drama, Mayans MC, the spinoff of the FX original series, Sons of Anarchy. As Adelita, Carla is a streetwise activist who witnessed her family die at the hands of the Galindo cartel, now works to protect the lost children orphaned by cartel violence. Make no mistake, while saving the children, Adelita is out for revenge. Baratta’s credits include TV series Prueba de Vida (Proof of Life), the web series Bleep, as well as such films as Alabaster and Blessing.
Cece Valencia: Radio personality, television host, and a philanthropist on Power 106’s The Cruz Show. She was recently spotlighted in National Geographic’s July 2018 issue, in the article titled, “How Latino’s Are Shaping America’s Culture.” For 15 years, Cece Valencia has been a boss Latina who is paving the way for so many girls who dream of one day leaving their own imprint in the male-dominated radio broadcasting industry. TheTRENDTalk is currently in its second season on METV Networks (locally in Los Angeles’ KAZA Channel), with a viewership of 4 million. Past guests include actors Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiquis Rivera, Edward James Olmos, Andrea Navedo, Rob Schneider, Edy Ganem, and film director Miguel Arteta, among many more.
Other Latinas will be highlighted throughout the day in various activities:
Desi Bartlett: At 11:15 am Desi will concduct the largest outdoor yoga session ever recorded with over 100 women signed up to participate. A global yoga guru and wellness coach, is a M.S., CPT E-RYT certified instructor. Her inspiring and unique classes have been featured on networks, ABC, NBC, FOX, Univision, Hallmark, and Lifetime. Her DVD’s are in demand, distributed worldwide. During the morning yoga session, over 100 women have signed up to participate. Bartlett, whose passionate aura is infectious and her message of the joy of movement with people all over the world, have made her global phenomena.
Keta Rush: At 4:00 pm actress/MMA Fighter & Founder of Team Bully Buster, and part of WOW (Women of Wrestling), conducts a self-defense demonstration to highlight STX films Peppermint. Rush’s future was shaped when as a child, she was a victim of a tragic act of bullying and intimidation. A group of girls beat her mercilessly to within an inch of her life. As a professional wrestler and through her nonprofit organization, Team Bully Buster, Rush’s consistent message and teaching are to “be strong, be yourself, and win.” Listen to her speak or watch her wrestle—women can’t help but feel the adrenaline of Rush!
Kristelle Monterrosa, who will lead the women in dance into the LATINAfest ground, is an actress, Flamenco dancer and the director/creator of Dancing Souls a documentary that explores the power of the arts to overcome challenges. The documentary explores her own journey of rehabilitating from knee surgery. Her goal is to inspire youth and adults with self-empowerment and self-affirmation tools she’s learned from Flamenco.
