The Trending Topics Talk Show
Executive Produced by Award-Winning Journalists Bel Hernandez and Naibe Reynoso
Premieres Sunday, February 11th at 7 a.m. on KAZA Los Angeles Channel 54
Los Angeles, CA — TheTRENDTalk TV Show, the trending topics talk show created, executive-produced and hosted by two award-winning Latina journalists, Bel Hernandez and Naibe Reynoso, has been picked up by MeTV Los Angeles television station KAZA-TV 54 and is set to premiere on February 11th.
TheTRENDTalk, currently in its 2nd season, aired its first season on LatinoPBS in the Inland Empire cable stations AT&T, Verizon, and Frontier. The new carriage on KAZA, in the 2nd largest DMA in the country, speaks to the relevance of a talk show of this kind.
An English-language talk show, TheTRENDTalk TV features all that’s trending in TV and film, the entrepreneurial space, influencers, health, tech, fashion and people contributing to their community. The target audience is women — Latinas in particular.
With over 28 million strong, U.S. Latinas hold tremendous purchasing power as part of the $1.4 trillion spent by all Latinos annually in the U.S. The Latina population in the U.S. grew by an impressive 37% between 2005 and 2015– they are now wielding their consumer impact on regional and national growth with powerful influence. The Latina consumer is price-conscious, health conscious, fashion-forward and digitally savvy.
“As a native Angeleno, I couldn’t be prouder to produce and host a show that puts a spotlight on the Latino community. According to the latest Census, Hispanics represent almost half of L.A. County Residents, so it makes sense for local stations to carry programming that reflects their community,” said Naibe Reynoso.
According to Nielsen, Latinas of all ages spend most of their time watching TV. Latinas 50+ spend more time watching Live and DVR TV, as well as listening to AM/FM radio, in comparison to their younger counterparts. Latinas ages 35-49 spend more time using the Internet and watching video on PCs. By comparison, Latinas age 18-34 spend more time than all other age groups on multimedia devices. Marketers who seek to reach Latinas of different generations, should take note of the multiple mediums they use to get information and find entertainment.
The Latina SmartPurse study BODEN and QuestMindshare revealed that there is no better time than now for brands to invest in Latinas as a key consumer segment within the U.S. landscape.
“U.S. Latinas feel ignored by mainstream talk shows,” added Hernandez. “It’s still an untapped audience and we are more than happy to cater to this important consumer group — and excited to join the KAZA Los Angeles programming family.”
Naibe Reynoso is a multiple-Emmy and AP Award-winning journalist. She started her career in television when she was a student at UCLA and has since been working both in front of and behind the camera. Her bilingual background includes investigative reporting, hosting, entertainment reporting, radio, and TV production for some of industries top networks and digital platforms. She has been a board member of the prestigious Peabody Awards since 2015. In 2015 she received the BIBO Award for “Outstanding work in Media.”
Bel Hernandez, President/CEO of Latin Heat Media, LLC is an award-winning journalist, author (8 Ways to Say I Love My Life), producer, and founder of Latin Heat an entertainment trade publication focused on Latinos (latinheat.com). She is the creator, executive producer and host of HOLA! LA the first TV talk hosted by four professional Latinas (aired on KCAL9/KCBS2).
