The Obamas Sign Unique Netflix Deal

Folks, they’re heading to Hollywood and not disappearing into former president retirement. They’ll both be involved both in front and behind the camera

Los Angeles, CA – Netflix, the global streaming giant, just secured a doozy of a deal with former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama—to produce series and movies in a multiyear agreement where together they will create a “diverse mix of content.”

Netflix reports that their deal is for the former POTUS and his wife to also include the potential for scripted series and unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features.

The Obamas will create shows through their production company, Higher Ground Productions. How involved will the Obamas be with the Los Gatos, CA streaming giant? Well, Netflix just named Susan Rice to its board of directors. You know, Rice, the former Obama administration national security advisor.

According to the LA Times, “Netflix Executive Reed Hasting has supported numerous Democratic candidates in the past, including to the presidential campaign of Obama and Hillary Clinton, and publicly criticized then candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential campaign.”

The Obamas Netflix deal is part of their greater mission “to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and then share their stories with the entire world.”
