The Latino Theater Company Receives $500,000 From Mellon Foundation

Los Angeles, CA – The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has given $500,00 grant to The Latino Theater Company.

In order to support the expansion of administrative staff and capacity building activities for over three years of The Latino Theater Company, the Mellon Foundation granted these funds that will also help a revolving board-designated cash reserve of the Latino Company based in Los Angeles, California.

“We are excited to receive this generous and significant grant award from the Mellon Foundation,” said LATC Artistic Director Jose Luis Valenzuela. “The grant award is recognition of our impact on the City of Los Angeles, and the funds will allow us to expand and professionalize our staff. This grant will give us the capacity to survive long term in an increasingly competitive arts entertainment environment.”

The mission of the Latino Theater Company at the Los Angeles Theatre Center is to provide a world-class arts center for those pursuing artistic excellence; a laboratory where both tradition and innovation are honored and honed; and a place where the convergence of people, cultures and ideas contribute to the future.
