Akira Boch’s Award-Winning Film Debut, Opens at the Laemmle’s PPlayhouse 7 Theatre

Los Angeles, CA– The Crumbles, winner of the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, is currently on a nationwide “Awkward ‘m’ Awesome Tour.” The Crumbles will be showing in major cities across the U.S. (see full schedule below). The film will Playouse 7 Theatre in Pasadena, CA, with a one-week engagement that begins on April 26th, with cast and crew in attendance at 7:30 pm followed by a Q & A. The opening weekend celebrations also include a special reception, free and open to the public, on April 27th, after the 7:30 pm screening & Q & A Theatre, at 15 South El Molino Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101. Music from The Crumbles movie soundtrack will be performed by GRAMMY® Award winning band Quetzal, lead by soundtrack producer, Quetzal Flores. Recently, Quetzal was featured on the CBS/KCAL9 local talk show, HOLA! LA.
The Crumbles follows the ups and downs of the greatest band in the world… that no one’s ever heard of. This indie rock slice-of-life tragicomedy stars a talented up-and-coming, multi- racial cast including Teresa Michelle Lee (Elisa), Katie Hipol (Darla) and Jeff Torres (Dante), and most eclectic neighborhoods, with a population made up of working class Latinos, hipsters, and artists of all stripes. The odd mixture of people and cultures creates a funky and flavorful milieu, where the characters in The Crumbles fit right in.
The Crumbles is award- -life experience of playing garage bands, it captures the feeling of excitement that comes with being a young adult stepping out into the world on a new adventure with friends, beginning the fulfillment of a long-held fantasy. But the film also shows how reality eventually wins out bringing disappointment and heartbreak, and forcing people to be resilient and grow.
Indie film fans and music lovers will be drawn in by the original soundtrack by Quetzal Flores, whose band Quetzal has been called, “provocative, heartfelt and strikingly original” by the LA Times. Spending months working on the songs in his home studio with the help of his musician friends, Flores produced a unique alt-rock sound, tailored for the fictional band, and the currently available on iTunes (http://bit.ly/TheCrumbles_iTunes).
The Crumbles recently raised over $10,000 on the popular online funding platform for — a successful nationwide tour of film festivals, independent venues and universities. The tour has so far included screenings throughout California, Washington, Texas, Rhode Island, Minnesota, and Washington DC.
