Los Angeles, CA – The Latin American Cinemateca of Los Angeles (LACLA) and the Los Angeles Conservancy co-present the screening of Dos Tipos de Cuidado (1953) at the historic Palace Theatre on Wednesday, 15 June 2016 at 8pm.
LACLA brings one of the most lauded “comedias rancheras” (ranch comedies), to the Conservancy’s 30th season of the Last Remaining Seats series of classic films in historic theatres. Combining elements of comedy, romance and popular music, Dos tipos de cuidado, pairs Jorge Negrete and Pedro Infante – two of the leading singing “charros” (cowboys) from the Mexican Golden Age of Cinema – for the first and only time in this tale of fraternity and rivalry. The story revolves around two best friends, Jorge Bueno (Negrete) and Pedro Malo (Infante) who become sworn enemies when Jorge finds out that Pedro has married his ex-girlfriend.
Pedro Infante Cruz was a Mexican actor and singer who hailed as one of the greatest actors of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Infante is considered an idol in Latin American.
Jorge Negrete was one of the most popular Mexican singers and actors in Mexico. His recording of México Lindo y Querido (Beautiful and Beloved México), his country’s unofficial anthem, is the best known recording of the song.
A special performance by the all-female mariachi group, Las Colibrí, in accompaniment with Lupita Infante, the granddaughter of Pedro Infante, will take place prior to the screening.
