Los Angeles, CA — Actor/musician Shel Rasten, son of music icon Charo, will debut his short film The Boulevard at The Palm Springs International Film Festival’s shorts program, ShortFest on Friday, June 21 at 11:30 am at Camelot Theatres, 2300 E. Directed by Tom Badal, The Boulevard stars and is produced by Rasten with a cast comprised of Alma Grey, Sheri Goldfrey, Lizzie Thrasher, Kai Devani, J.R. Dziengel and Alina Adams.  The Boulevard is an 11-minute film, set to music composed and performed by Shel Rasten.  The film tells the story of a young 4-year old girl, who is abandoned by her mother and left alone to hopelessly fend against an abusive father. Eventually, she flees and begins a journey that takes her from one lonely boulevard to another. Till finally she herself haunts those cold dispassionate streets as a drug addicted street-walker. Life has pursued her all these many years and tonight too exhausted to keep running she succumbs to the midnight peace of the hopeless.

It is a memory piece that intermingles with fantasy and haze. This is a compassionate but artistically raw telling of a story that is usually handled (in Hollywood) with cliche or even light comedy.

The Boulevard is produced by Eva Minemar and Rasten, Director of Photography is Sebastian Milito; Editors: William Thomas, Andrew Davies; Art Director: Thea Badal; Make-Up: Jayme Kavanaugh; Sound Editor/Mixer:  Andres Boulton; Conrad Curtis, Assistant Camera, Jesse Fleiss, Additional Photography.

Shel Rasten is an actor, producer and musician with several film and TV credits.  He has produced the short films, Famous and On The List and The Boulevard, which premiered at The Palm Springs International Film Festival and Las Vegas Film Festival.

Shel is the son of music legend and cultural icon Charo. He has grown up around music and show business and became naturally interested in entertainment.  He studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.  Watch Shel and Charo on KTLA: http://shelrasten.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Shel-Rasten-KTLA5.mp4
