The casting for the second season of the hit Hulu high school drama East Los High was recently announced. The first series ever to focus on a high school with a predominately Latino cast premiered last year to an overwhelming response by both audiences and critics alike. This high school drama hit a cord with tackling topics that go much deeper than any 90210 episode.
Series creator Carlos Portugal will once direct and produce along with Kathleen Bedoya. The writing staff is a combination of returning and new writers who have written 12 new episodes which revolve around some hot topic issues such dealing with being gay in a Latino community, acceptance, family issues, and all the drama faced by today’s high schoolers.
Gabriel Chavarria (Jacob) & Alicia Sixtos (Maya) return for 2nd season
Returning cast members include Gabriel Chavarria (Jacob) who at the end of season one ends up with Maya (Alicia Sixtos). Also returning from season one are Danielle Vega and Tracy Perez. With new cast members which include: Ashley Campuzano, Jeremy Chavarria, Ray Diaz, Vivian Lamoli, Rick Mancia, Alexandra Rodriguez, Andrea Sixtos, and Vannessa Vasquez.
East Los High is produced for Hulu by Prajna Productions, The alchemists, Into Action films and Population Media Center.
