Filmmaker David Bianchi’s SCREAMS – A powerful, raw, gut-wrenching, visual “scream”. A spoken word video drawing attention to the political insanity of the separation of children.
In the turmoil of the current political climate, we are living — experiencing — separation of children, Trump’s “zero tolerance” against children and parents seeking asylum, labeling them as MS-13 gang members and “animals” infesting our communities— so many irresponsible and violence-inciting rants that have Americans and global citizens up in arms expressing their outrage on social media.
Trump said they are an infestation… most of them are three feet tall” – SCREAMS
Enter, David Bianchi, a poet, actor, and pioneer of the visual/art form of Spoken Word, with his new video, SCREAMS. The message dares you to not be profoundly touched or conscience stirred. It is hard to watch. Harder to listen, but once the video rolls, it is nearly impossible to turn a blind eye to this crisis in humanity happening right now in our own country… states… counties… communities. Bianchi’s outrage is heart wrenching, raw and most important, an honest representation of what is stirring within most of our hearts.
SCREAMS is a must-see video—a tiny film less than three minutes long. It’s a fight against Trump’s scary and false ideology that immigrants are bringing with them a wave of violence that’s driving up the crime rate.
LH: Why this art form to get your message across?
DB: “As a poet, actor and a filmmaker I always have a platform. I was so hurt by the news I had to write… and “Screams” is what came out,” Bianchi answers. “Crimes against children are inexcusable, which is why both sides of the aisle were outraged.”
LH: Why is it important for you to create this video, at your own expense, asking for nothing in return but the eyes of Americans and people around the world to watch?
DB: “I wrote this piece to help make the pain relatable to all audiences, not just Latinos. As Latinos, we understand the struggle, but most American’s tap out after the days’ news cycle (as so many Latinos),” he explains. “So this story, I hope makes it real. I hope it makes it personal. I hope it makes people stay in the topic long enough to act. I hope this film hurts people to the point that they’ll share it and keep the discussion and the protest alive. Our future is in the youth, not just Latino youth…all youth.”
