Salma Hayek Joins The Cast of “How to Be a Latin Lover”

Los Angeles, CA –  International actress/producer Salma Hayek has joined Eugenio Derbez comedy How to Be a Latin Lover currently in production.  Hayek joins the previously announced cast of Rob Lowe, Kristen Bell, Raquel Welch and Derbez in the Lionsgate’s Pantelion English language comedy that is currently in production and set to release in 2017.

How to Be a Latin Lover is the story of  an aging Latin lover who gets dumped by his “older girlfriend”. After getting used to the rich life he is forced to return to live with his estranged sister and her young son at their humble home and begin go look for his next meal ticket.

Hayek, joins the cast having recently worked on Millennium Films’ Hitman’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds.  On May 29th Hayek was honored at the Vatican as she received the Olive Medal award from Pope Francis for her work in the arts and using her celebrity to promote unity and peace.

How to Be a Latin Lover is Derbez’s first English language film, however his success came for another film that highest grossing Spanish-language film released in North America, breaking box office records with a combined domestic and international gross of over $99M, the Spanish-language film Instructions Not Included.  The film is a joint venture between 3Pas Studios, Pantelion Films, Lionsgate and Televisa Cine. This will mark Derbez’s first English-language starring role in the U.S.  It is also the first film under his and Ben Odell’s production company 3Pas film under its first-look deal with Pantelion.

Written by Chris Spain (Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin) and Jon Zack (The Perfect Score, Out Cold), How to Be a Latin Lover is being directed  by Ken Marino.
