About the Lower Eastside Girls Club

The Lower Eastside Girls Club was founded in 1996 to address the historic lack of services available to girls and young women on the Lower East Side.  Girls Club programs fall into three overlapping categories that work to build ethical, entrepreneurial and environmental awareness and leadership. Through an ever changing and age appropriate menu of activities and workshops in the arts, science and technology, health and wellness, literacy, world of work and civic engagement, the organization helps girls discover their individual skills and passions. The Lower Eastside Girls Club, which will be opening the Celebrate Café training program and community café in early 2014, also runs several social venture businesses: The Art+Community Gallery, La Tiendita Fair Trade and Girl Made Gift Shop at the Essex Market, and the Sweet Things Bake Shop.  For more information about the LESGC, please visit http://www.girlsclub.org/ or follow on Facebook and on Twitter.
