Almost White: Forced Confessions of a Latino in Hollywood D.C. Performance October 11th

Washington, DCOn Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 8:00 PM, Rick Najera debuts his one-man show Almost White: Forced Confessions of a Latino in Hollywood in Washing ton D.C. to benefit the Camino Community Center www.caminocommunitycenter.org.  It will be presented at the GALA Hispanic Theatre, the national Center for Latino Performing Arts in the nation’s capital. Almost White: Forced Confessions of A Latino In Hollywood, won first place in the International Latino Authors Award for “Most Inspirational Book”. In his one-man show by the same name, Rick Najera takes an unapologetic and honest look at the depiction of Latino culture with his new thought-provoking and comedic memoir. Najera explores what it means to be Latino within the ever-changing backdrop of life as a Hollywood creative. California-born with Mexican-American roots, Najera offers an insider’s view into his life through an ironic yet comedic lens, from in front of the camera to behind, from the page to the stage and beyond.


Najera is an award-winning actor-writer-director-producer with credits in film, television, theatre and Broadway. Honored twice by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of 100 Most Influential Latinos in America, Najera is also one of the most powerful voices in the Latino world today.

As one of only three Latinos in history to write and star in his own Broadway show, Najera made his Broadway debut in 2005 with his comedic creation, self-written, and award-winning sketch comedy show, LATINOLOGUES™. Najera penned the holiday feature film Nothing Like the Holidays starring Debra Messing, Alfred Molina, Freddy Rodriguez and John Leguizamo, which won him a prestigious ALMA Award. He was also honored with two WGA nominations for his writing on MAD TV. Najera has also written for In Living Color, Culture Clash and is Executive Producer of the sketch show Najera in America.
