Monday, November 5, 2018 Day’s events kick off with a Celebrity Golf Tournament, 9AM – 4PM Capped with an elegant evening at the Ricardo Montalban’s Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards, 5PM-9PM
In 1971, legendary actor Ricardo Montalban founded Nosotros, a 501 (c-3) nonprofit organization for the sole purpose to improve the image and employment of Latinos in the entertainment industry. For years, the annual event of the year, was the Golden Eagle Awards Gala. And, up until 2006, this event kept getting better. Some years televised, others it was one of the most amazing live shows held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. It’s been 12 years, and Jerry Velasco, a Nosotros past president who oversaw many Golden Eagle Awards, announced its return!

“It is a great pleasure to inform you that after twelve years, the Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards returns,” stated Velasco. ” I’d like to invite the community at large to join us in the revival of this great awards live show and dinner, and consider supporting Nosotros’ fund raiser event.”
Velasco went on to say that he hopes everyone– Latinx and the old guard who stood with Ricardo Montalban for all the years of his career– will be in attendance.
In addition, it is announced that the 2nd Annual Nosotros Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place earlier in the day, November 5, from 9AM to 4PM at the Montebello Country Club, all in support of the Nosotros-Jump Start Youth Programs.
“This year in combination with the golf tournament, we will be reintroducing the prestigious Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards, an awards event first envisioned by our iconic founder, Ricardo Montalbano in 1970,” added Velasco. “Since 1971, Nosotros has recognized and honored those that have made an impact and created opportunities for Latinos and the at-risk youth of our communities.”
The Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards honors outstanding and inspirational career accomplishments and humanitarian works. The 2018 Golden Eagle recipients are:
Emilio Rivera: Nosotros is excited to honor Emilio with the 2018 Nosotros Golden Eagle Award for his inspirational career accomplishments and his commitment to inspire and cultivate the youth of our communities. A great example of how turning your life around is the key to making dreams come true. Known for his various film and television roles, Emilio is currently well known as “Marcus Alvarez” on Fox’s Sons of Anarchy and its new spin-off success Mayans MC.
Tony Plana: Nosotros is proud to honor Tony Plana with The Nosotros Golden Eagle Impact Award for his extensive body of work and his humanitarian efforts. Tony has appeared in more than 100 films and television shows, as well as on Broadway. He was the co-founder and served as its executive artistic director for the East L.A. Classic Theater serving the Latino community through educational outreach and through bilingual productions.
In addition, guests also include Nosotros-Jump Start Youth and their parents.
