Our Brand is Crisis, the Warner Bros. satirical political drama about winning elections in Bolivia was executive produced by George Clooney and stars Academy Award-winning actors Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton. Starring right alongside these mega stars are several Latinos, among them Reynaldo Pacheco who has been signaled out for his performance as a fresh new talent who “…makes his mark as an idealistic support of candidate Pedro Gallo” by serving as “the moral compass, as the beacon of social morality” by ScreenCreek.com.
Reynaldo stars as Eddie Camacho, a young man who works closely with Bullock’s character Calamity” Jane Bodine, a political strategist from the States hired to help Bolivia’s ex-president Castillo (Joaquim de Almeida) get re-elected. Bodine assigns Camacho to be her right hand videographer and document all of the opposing candidate’s (Luis Arcella) moves.
What was it like working alongside Sandra Bullock, one of the classist and talented actresses in Hollywood? “I was super nervous to tell you the truth. Sandra is a Hollywood icon,” he told us. “I just wanted to prove to myself that I could work at the level of these incredible people I worked with.”
Reynaldo was born in La Paz, Bolivia where began doing street theater. By the time he was 18 he had traveled with theater groups to Mexico, France, Ecuador, England and the United States where he obtained a MFA in acting from the University of Southern California. In 2010 he landed his first high profile film, Beginners where he starred opposite Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plumber, who won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in the film. He has also worked with Kate Del Castillo, Eva Longoria, Oscar Nunez and Ernest Borgnine.
Our Brand is Crisis, based on a 2005 documentary film, is a fictionalized account of the involvement of an American political campaign strategist hired in the 2002 Bolivian presidential election. The role of “Calamity” Jane Bodine (Bullock) was originally going to be played by Clooney, however he was only too happy to turn over the role Variety eventually called, “Easily one of the best female roles of the last 10 years” to his fellow executive producer Bullock.

Although the film was received with mixed reviews, for actor/singer Reynaldo Pacheco it has been a career changing experience, and has put him on the map of many Hollywood film producers. He was selected to do most of the film’s publicity tours and all of a sudden he was walking the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival and joining Clooney and Bullock on stage for the Q&A after the screening. He is also conscious of the role he plays in representing his native country. “I feel very blessed to play a character who represents the voice of the Bolivian people in a movie that’s very important to the history of my country,” Reynaldo explained.
Also a passionate humanitarian, Reynaldo is an advocate for educational rights and awareness. He is the founder of the Hollywood Academy of Performing Arts in South America and the United States, a prestigious online acting program dedicated to advancing students’ knowledge in acting and performance art through the teachings of accomplished instructors. HAPA has allowed students to be educated by and audition with respected casting directors and television networks worldwide. Reynaldo also co-founded and serves as the ambassador for Changing Stories, an international nonprofit production company that aims to educate and share the struggles of third world countries.
“I feel very connected to Bolivia and that is why I am working hard to bring a school of acting down there connected to Los Angeles and my non profit Changing Stories. The school is called Hollywood Academy of performing arts.”
Currently, Reynaldo is preparing for the release of his debut single and music video for his self produced record, The Fall paying tribute to the film. He is also in pre-production for two films
Reflecting on the experience of working on Our Brand is Crisis, Reynaldo reflects, “I started working in the street of Bolivia doing theater so for me coming back to Bolivia with Warner Bros film starring alongside Sandra Bullock and produced by George Clooney is truly a gift from heaven.”
