By Mary Chuy

Award winning actress Keyla Wood is currently filming her new web series titled On Air which is directed by Ivan Lowenberg. On Air  is a sitcom which takes place in the 1980″s about a news anchor man who after many years of being out off work decided to make a comeback only to find out that nothing is the same in the news world and everyone is now using social media to become informed. Keyla plays one of the TV hosts on this hilarious web series.

In Mexico City Keyla often works on Spanish language soap operas, series and TV commercials. Meanwhile, in L.A. she is actively producing, filming, attending auditions and is ready to take over Hollywood!

The exotic Mexican actress is not only beautiful, she has also displayed great dedication and determination. When first meeting director Ivan Lowenberg it was not a coincidence, as she approached the young director after learning he had received a prize for Best Script at the International Film Festival Rotterdan for his film Castracion. The cast for the film was already selected when she inquired about a role via Facebook with director Lowenberg, yet he agreed to meet with her. Only days later he called and asked if she were ready to accept a part; and that is how Keyla Wood landed the main role of Victoria in the feature length Castracion. Today it continues to make the rounds at film festivals around the world. Additionally, Wood recently collaborated with Lowenberg on the short film On Line which is currently in pre-production.

Wood’s her first opportunity to work into film industry was in Salma Hayek’s  Frida (2002).  In Mexico she worked in several soap operas in Tv Azteca for about 3 years, and in Telemundo Latin American Broadcasting network in the TV drama Ladron de corazones  (2003). In 2006 she was cast by Laura Richard  to be part of the project Breached (2005), a graduate film at NYU which was awarded and screened in Tribeca Film Festival and several more.

Keyla Wood has been the recipient of awards such as the Palmas de Oro (2006) and Sol de Oro(2008). A portion of her acting credits include: Hot Tamales Live! alongside Eva Longoria, Decisiones, Secretos de Familia and Prohibido Amar (TV Azteca).

Wood is represented in Mexico by Espada PR Mexico and by Espada PR in the United States.
