New York, NY – International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival, Prime Latino Media, and the Center for Puerto Rican Studies Present the IPRHFF Multi-Media Conference on November 12, 2016 to be held at the Silberman School of Social Work, 2180 Third Avenue & 119th Street, Room 115AB. The conference is presented as part of the 6th Annual International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival and is free of charge, however RSVP’s are mandatory RSVP HERE.
The full-day conference is comprised of a series of six panel discussions from some of the key thought leaders in the Latino community with a proven track record in the industry. The goal of the conference is to provide Latino multimedia-makers, actors & musicians informations and resources to strengthen their skills as content creator and performers in the creative community. The high industry profile panelist will share their knowledge and expertise while empowering attendees to begin, or to continue to tell their stories using their unique and authentic voices.

Case Study on Community Storytelling: Hartford, CT: Though Puerto Ricans are the largest Latino ethnic group in NYC, their reach in the United States goes from Florida to Hawaii, Chicago to Philadelphia. But if you remove the Puerto Rican umbrella, how do we tell our Latino stories inherent to the community that they dwell in the United States? Short film set in Hartford’s Puerto Rican community will be screened, Hasta Mañana and a feature story produced by Puerto Rican Voices at the Center for Puerto Rican Studies – Hunter College.

Antonia Pantoja who emigrated to the U.S. from Puerto Rico in the 1940’s, went on to become a Social Worker and founder of the Puerto Rican youth organization, ASPIRA that celebrates its 55th anniversary in 2016.

6th Annual International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival
The IPRHFF Multimedia Conference: TV, Film and New Media part of the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival opens up on November 9th opening with the world premiere of Antes Que Cante el Gallo. Honoree this year’s are Luna Velez nee Lauren Velez (Dexter) receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award while J.W. Cortés will receive the Humanitarian Award.
The Festival proudly continues to celebrate content creators and actors who represent the best in the Puerto Rican diaspora – from the mainland to the United States. The festival will screen works in film, television, New Media and present panels, while honoring projects and individuals, past and present that champion its culture through the arts.
