Alliances and loyalties are tested as Joe Sandoval (John Ortiz) considers the future of his family-run Sonoma Valley wine business. Just a few hundred miles south but a world away, Carlos Rincón and sisters Juana and Rosa Sánchez (Katya Marin and Ariana Guerra, respectively) cross the U.S. border from Mexico in search of a better life.
In addition to Ortiz (Silver Lining Playbook), Martín (Roadkill) and Guerra (Helstrom), the cast features Cecilia Suárez (The House of Flowers), Augusto Aguilera (The Predator), Christina Ochoa (Animal Kingdom), Mariel Molino, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Andres Velez (Night Teeth), Rolando Chusan and Bellamy Young (Scandal).

The series was created and is written by Matt Lopez, whose writing credits include Disney’s films Bedtime Stories, starring Adam Sandler, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, starring Nicholas Cage, and Race to Witch Mountain, starring Dwayne Johnson. He was also a writer on and producer on Gone, an international co-production of NBCUniversal International Studios that aired on the U.S. cable channel WGN America.
Other actors in recurring include Yul Vazquez (The Outsider), Julio Macias (On My Block), Ariana Guerra (Helstrom), Kerri Medders (Spin), Tom Amandes (The Long Kiss Goodnight), Natalia del Riego (The Mitchells vs the Machines) and Miguel Angel Garcia (Die Like a Man).
Directing the series is Michael Cuesta, who co-directed and co-exec produced the HBO series Homeland. This show earned him a Primetime Emmy and two other nominations for that award. His executive producer credits include two popular series CBS’s Elementary and Showtime’s Dexter. He has also directed episodes for series like Hulu Dopesick and HBO’s Six Feet Under.
Promised Land is also expected to air in Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and India.
In the U.S., all episodes will be available on Hulu a day after their broadcast on ABC.
