Indie Films get Distribution
The Phoenix Project and Alumbrones also part of the Special Engagement at Arena Cinema Hollywood
After wowing audiences at film festivals Oscar Torre’s directorial debut film Pretty Rosebud will have a theatrical release at the Arena Cinema Hollywood theater, 1625 N. Las Palmas Blvd., Los Angeles on January 16–22, 2015. Fri. at 8:15 p.m. , Sat. and Sun. at 6:00 p.m., Mon. and Wed. at 8:05 p.m., Tues. and Thurs. at 9:45 p.m.
Pretty Rosebud is written by Chuti Tiu who also stars in the film as Cissy a young woman who has, what seems to be the perfect life. Always striving to “do the right thing” for her parents and everyone else in her life. The pressures of trying to be the “good girl” has left her on the verge of a breakdown. A childless marriage to a handsome architect (Kipp Shiotani) has gone stale, while questions about babies pepper every well-meaning conversation with family and friends. The cultural abyss dividing Cissy and her traditional Asian parents drives her to a desperate act of survival, defying societal taboos… awakening something so primal it is both shocking and revelatory. The film also stars Oscar Torre, Dana Lee, Bel Hernandez and Richard Yniguez.
Awards for Pretty Rosebud include Winner for Action on Film International Film Festival, USA, and praises for Tiu’s performance including “Tiu delivers a stellar performance.”—-Asian in N.Y.
