Univision presented emotional celebration of the 25th anniversary of “Premio Lo Nuestro” with electrifying musical performances, touching tributes and world premieres

MIAMI — Univision hosted it’s annual “Premio Lo Nuestro Latin Music” with an over-the-top celebration of its 25th anniversary. Hosted by actress and singer Ninel Conde, and Mexican star Pedro Fernández. Premio Lo Nuestro is the oldest Latin music awards show in the United States, and was broadcast live Thursday from the AmericanAirlines Arena. The show presented 18 spectacular musical numbers, and recognized excellence in five music genres: tropical, pop, regional Mexican, rock / urban alternative.
Top honors went to Prince Royce, who took home six awards, and the late megastar, Jenni Rivera, who won five awards. In what proved to be one of the most emotional moments in the history of “Premio Lo Nuestro,” Rivera’s children accepted the awards on behalf of the artist.
The show opened with a stunning presentation of the famous Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra performed a medley of the best songs he has sung in past “Premio Lo Nuestro”. Jesse & Jo and sang their hit, “Mourn”. Later, the international pop superstar, Thalia, made ??a long-awaited return to music with a fabulous performance of her new song, “You missed my love”, accompanied by Prince Royce.
Audience favorite, Pedro Fernández, received the Premio Lo Nuestro Lifetime Achievement in tribute to his musical legacy and his 35 years of stellar career. Fernandez delighted the audience by playing a medley of his most popular songs with mariachis.
One of the most talked about moments was the reunion of good friends and former teammates of Menudo, Ricky Martin and Draco, who for the first time on live television played the ballad “More and More,” one of Draco’s songs from his “Life” album.
Alejandro Sanz, was awarded the “Excellence Award”, romanced the audience by singing one of the biggest hits of his career, “Heart Partío”.
Maria Jose triumphs singing tribute to her friend Jenni Rivera
In one of the most anticipated segments of the night was a special tribute performance by artists: Olga Tanon, Shaila Durcal, Maria Jose and Diana Reyes, accompanied Lupillo Rivera to pay tribute to his sister, Jenni Rivera. The arrangement was poignant of the greatest hits of The Diva of Banda. Hundreds of fans could be part of this tribute by social media via Thunderclap, participating in a unique virtual applause Rivera covering Twitter and Facebook which took place simultaneously as the tribute was performed LIVE.
It was a spectacular evening… one of the best Premio Lo Nuestro in its 25 year history.
