Planes In Theaters August 9, 2013
First there were Cars now its all about the planes in Disney’s latest animated feature, Planes in theaters August 9th. Knowing the importance of the Latino film goer, Disney has made sure to market their film across the country to Latinos. Here in L.A. they headed over to the Boys and Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles with some of their voice talent and artists.
On July 25th, talented actor Carlos Alazraqui, voice of “El Chupacabra” in the film, share his experiences as a voiceover actor with the kids and served as judge for some of the day’s competitions; and veteran Disney Story Artist Art Hernandez, helped guide and entertain the kids through different Planes-themed activities and shared fun facts about the film.
The Club’s gym and soccer field areas were an ocean of wonder where the kids will be able to participate in such activities as: craft their own model planes using the “Imagination Playground,” play an educational Around The World trivia game with Carlos and Art, learn tips on how to be a great voiceover actor from a pro (Carlos!), receive animation drawing lessons from Art, hold a “longest flier” paper plane competition, and display their own planes photography skills from a recent field trip to a local airport.
This was a special treat for children that are so close to Hollywood but have little knowledge of how the magic of Hollywood happens. For them to have an opportunity to get a glimpse on how the magic translates to the screen, might trigger aspirations of their own, at the very least to see the film.
The cast list of high profile talent include comedian Gabriel Iglesias, Terry Hatcher, Dane Cook, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Garrett, Stacy Keach, Val Kilmer and so many others.
From high above the world of Cars, Disney’s animated action-packed comedic adventure, Planes, will be in theaters in 3D August 9th. Distributed by the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
